Summer Break

As is our tradition, the ISSA chapter will be taking a break for the summer to give our members time to enjoy the season with family, friends, and other activities. We look forward to resuming our regular chapter meetings in September.

Presenter: Hilary Farrell

Topic: As a company’s cybersecurity organization matures, in-house detection and threat intelligence becomes a higher priority without a budget to match. But building a robust and reliable detection library is achievable with the people and technology stack already in place – whether that’s as a standalone security team and SIEM, a wraparound 24/7 SOC partner, or a mix of both. This presentation explored how to identify meaningful and industry-relevant alerting behaviors, analyzing and prioritize coverage gaps, and applying development best practices to scale library maintenance.

February 26th, 2026

Presenter: Kenneth G. Hartman

Sponsor: Astro Cybersecurity

Topic: As generative AI reaches photorealistic quality, distinguishing real images from synthetic ones has become increasingly difficult. This session examines modern digital image forensics, from camera sensor fingerprinting techniques like PRNU to emerging AI-specific detection methods and cryptographic provenance standards such as C2PA. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of how digital media can be authenticated and attributed in an increasingly synthetic environment.

Happy Hour Event Sponsor: Netskope

Topic: Understanding the industry challenges Netskope helps to solve, talking through some of the current and anticipated threat landscape challenges, while also socializing as a group after our presentations. We will have drinks, hor d’oeuvres, and a wonderful setting in one of Delamar’s private rooms!

Presenter: Kenneth G. Hartman

Topic: This meeting will focus on a hand-on exploration of fabric (https://github.com/danielmiessler/fabric/tree/main), an open-source framework for augmenting humans using AI that provides a modular framework for solving problems.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Explore fabric, an open-source framework for augmenting humans using AI.
  • Learn the basics of prompt engineering.
  • Appreciate the benefits of using a Command Line Interface (CLI) in development and security workflows.
  • Understand how to leverage fabric with Visual Studio Code, Git/GitHub, and GitHub Codespaces.
  • Learn how to chain commands for greater efficiency.

Presenter: Jeff Crume, PhD, CISSP

Sponsor: IBM

We’ll discuss how these technologies are becoming more sophisticated and how they can be used to deceive people, spread disinformation, and even cause harm. Through real-world examples and demonstrations, let’s explore the implications of these technologies for society in order to gain a better understanding of these emerging technologies and the risks they pose.
